The workshop,
in its own words.
Three years in. Partner floors across Bangladesh, all held to one standard. The atelier isn't a building — it's a contract we actually keep.

A family rooted for decades in Bangladesh's Ready-Made Garment trade — opening a workshop of our own was less a decision than an inheritance.
The wheel didn't need reinventing — Bangladesh has no shortage of sewing capacity. What buyers kept telling us, quietly and repeatedly, was that the contract was the hard part. Commitments that held through sampling and slipped by bulk. Messages unanswered the week the schedule tightened. Quality drifts nobody flagged until the container was already on the water. We weren't building another factory. We were building a different way of being in a contract.
Three years in, the premise holds. What changed is the scale. What didn't change is the rule we built into the first agreement: say what you can actually do, then do it — and when something starts to slip, be the first to pick up the phone.
Eight to twelve floors.
One standard we carry in.
Capacity isn't the problem. Accountability is. Partners who'll hold a line they said they'd hold. We don't own a floor yet. What we own is the part that tends to drift when it shouldn't — the sampling calendar, the QC pass, the note that goes out before the buyer has to ask. Every partner in this network agreed to be held to those, or isn't in it.

Year three.
And the line ahead.
Where we are: eight to twelve partner floors across Bangladesh, and a first stable rotation of buyers across the EU and North America.
Deepen category coverage in outerwear and technical wovens. Publish an audited scorecard on partner-level performance — the one we wish vendors would publish to us.
First Markten-owned sampling studio in the Dhaka corridor. QC and development brought in-house; production still partnered, still held to the same standard.
The atelier we'd build from scratch, if we ever do. Small floor. Own cloth. Finishing we can put our name on.
Three rules we'd rather lose work over than break.
We vet the floor, not just the sample.
Anyone can audit a finished garment. We audit the floor that'll make the next ten thousand — who's on the line, how long they've been there, whether the supervisor will take a call at 9 p.m. when the container's waiting. The sample is the easy part.
When it slips, you hear it from us first.
The contract isn't the purchase order. It's the phone call the week something starts to move. We'd rather deliver a hard update in week two than a surprise in week eight. That rule doesn't negotiate.
One contract. Everywhere it ships.
Regional pricing tiers exist. Regional quality tiers don't. The garment heading to Antwerp is cut to the same spec as the one going to Los Angeles, and both are held to the same standard before they leave the port.
